catfish | oil pressure sending unit,or oil pump.most likely the su.its next to the oil filter.a low should be 3/8 on the guage, high is 3/4. ------------------

KRK | My 2001 does the same thing? The DC dealer on Broadway says this is normal??? Hard for me to belive... |
TLRandall | My Mulholland is all over the place, when it actually shows a reading at all. It's the sending unit, I just never have replaced it! ------------------ 1997 Purple Prowler Go-Cart and Trailer 1999 Purple Prowler and Trailer 2000 Yellow Prowler Trailer 2001 Mulholland Edition Prowler and Trailer 2004 Ford F-150 FX-4 and Trailer |
IM IN XTC | does this make a difference to the oil in the motor |
TLRandall | Nope, it is just the sending unit that signals the gauge. My local Dealer says that there is a problem with the design, the plastic housing allows moisture to build up in the sending unit, causing it to send faulty readings. ------------------ 1997 Purple Prowler Go-Cart and Trailer 1999 Purple Prowler and Trailer 2000 Yellow Prowler Trailer 2001 Mulholland Edition Prowler and Trailer 2004 Ford F-150 FX-4 and Trailer |
392HEMI | Just a word of caution here. IF you are going to replace the sending unit yourself, be VERY CAREFUL threading and tightening it up. Spec's. call for 200 INCH POUNDS torque. That equates to about 16 FOOT pounds. If this strips out the aluminum block, you just bought a short block. OUCH!! |

Oil pressure does not equate to amount of oil. You may have enough oil and the pressure is low - indicating (in most cases) a bad sending unit or faulty oil pump. |
